KATIKU TO LAUNCH ITS 5-YEAR MEDIUM-TERM DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

The barangay development council (BDC) of Katiku will launch its barangay development plan (BDP) on February 12, 2019. The BDP comes in a book format, with 92 pages that contain the 100-year history, socio-economic outlook and development priorities of the barangay for fiscal years 2019 to 2023.
Earlier, a website for the BDP was also launched for the broader public to access the content and progress of the initiative.
'BDP is our most urgent priority since we assumed our role in July 2018', says the barangay captain, Eufrosenio Guillermo, Jr. 'The BDP is a product of multi-stakeholder exchange of perspectives and expertise, done in a series of three planning workshops and data crunching.'
Guillermo adds: 'the voice of the people in the barrio is crystal-clear. We must deliver. Kaya dibdiban talaga.'
Unveiling the BDP is an opportunity for the barangay leadership to articulate their development priorities for five years seen to generate tangible results, which will reduce rural poverty while facilitating shared prosperity. The launch will also make a call for partnerships.
Ms. Wennie Vallejos, a barangay councilor who chairs the social affairs committee notes: 'We are counting on our existing and potential partners from government agencies, other local government units, neighboring barangays, civil society, the private sectors and other community-based organizations to join us in putting our ambition into action. Mobilizing their resources in the form of financial, technical expertise, training and networks will reinforce our BDP. The support and participation of our Muslim brothers and sisters in several areas of our BDP will help strengthen our shared peace and development efforts.'
Draft programme and the initial list of invitees are below.
